Street food has now become, in many parts of the planet, a true cult for connoisseurs and enthusiasts. This is why all eyes are focused on the third edition of the 2019 Street Food International Festival, in Rome from March 15th to 17th (Piazzale della Radio) and from March 22nd to 24th (Piazza San Giovanni Bosco). Organized by a young entrepreneur from Turin with a fixation on making quality cuisine popular, Alfredo Orfino, the event has the mission to bring to squares and streets Italian and international flavors cooked by thirty chefs in mobile kitchens, or on wheels.
A new way of eating, a new sensory experience, a new way of understanding taste. The paradigm changes the imaginary, the format changes everything. And here the Italian regions will propose their local delicacies, from the seadas and culurgiones of Ogliastra, the classic nuorese bun with pecorino cream and Sardinian sausage, to the Roman artichoke, from the Alberobello bombetta, to the red sausage and the red burger of Castelpoto in the Benevento area, up to the Piedmontese hamburger with Fassona meat, toma cheese, caramelized pancetta (bacon) and green sauce, or to Bubble tea, served both hot and cold, with fruit-flavored balls.
There is even a glimpse of the world, with trucks loaded with Australian and Balkan menus, just to give some examples. “In Italy, water, flour, oil and tomatoes create many specialties like maccheroni and pizza, symbols of Italian cuisine, born just like street food in New York with Hot Dog carts, in Istanbul with Kebab kiosks or the creperies on the boulevards of Paris, all symbolic places of Street Food. We want to introduce a new type of restaurant, a mobile restaurant, created only and exclusively with foods that aim at quality without neglecting good drinking, hospitality and the aggregation of cultures”, explains Orofino, proud of the two hundred thousand people who took part in the 2018 edition.
And that’s not all: street performers will also be performing in Piazzale della Radio, while in Piazza Don Bosco the great Silent Party will be on, in which three DJs will entertain guests equipped with headphones with three different genres, thus avoiding noise pollution.
Congratulations to International Street Food Italia, to MAS (Arts and Entertainment Events Association) and to Silent Party for producing a unique event in Rome capable of enhancing music, food and the majestic beauty of the city.
